Yami
- Appearance: Light skin, long black hair that is worn in a messy style up front. In the back is a long straight ponytail that he keeps tied with a ribbon at the base of his neck. His hair reaches to the top of his butt. His eyes are slightly angled upward at the edges and are an ocean blue. Later on the Princess also finds out that Yami has his ears pierced and has managed to keep it a secret from most of the others all this time. She finds this out only however, once she comments greatly on a pair that Yaori was wearing for a rather formal event and he gives them to her as a gift, even though her ears are not pierced as he notes that the earrings he has (a rather expensive pair) can also be worn by those without pierced ears. She later shows them to Yami who absentmindedly puts them on using the piercing ends...to this she is quite shocked, it would seem he forgot to ever mention his ears were pierced several years before! It can also be remarked that one of Yami's greatest personal fears is anyone seeing him with his hair down! As Yaari comments later on learning this, Yami "looks more girly than Yuuri!" with his hair down! So he does his absolute best to never let anyone see him with it down, regardless of the occasion, even when the Princess comments that his hair is "pretty!"
- Fashion: Like most of the Princess' guardians, with the exception of Yuuki, Yami tends to wear dark, mostly black clothing. Most of his tops are long sleeved, black, and rather form fitting. He also will occasionally wear a short sleeved black shirt and when sleeping or in his room a plain white t-shirt. Of course, for formal occasions, he has formal attire that matches the other guardians'. On outings, especially in the fall, Yami has a black cropped jacket.
- Abilities: Yami is good with both weapons and magic, but lacks the balance of each that Yaori has. In tough times, especially when the Princess is in danger, he will do anything and everything in his power to help her, including overlooking his own safety and health and even managing to ramp up his own powers. The one thing Yami is not really good with, ability-wise, is healing. At best, he's able to heal very small wounds, scrapes, cuts, and bruises. His ability at this is far less than the others' healing abilities, even ranking below Yaari's pathetic healing skills. At one time the Princess requested, and was granted, the chance to have Yami help train her with using her powers and protecting herself in battle and to this he agreed and became her teacher if for nothing more than the knowledge that it will help keep her safe should he not be able to get to her in time.
- Home & Family: Yami is originally from the same country he now serves. He lived in a rural area in the Southern part of the country with his mother, father, and two brothers. Yami is the middle child. His older brother is a lazy moocher and mostly stays cooped up in his room; he also tends to ogle cute girls like the Princess. He has brown hair that he keep in a messy ponytail and reaches a little past his shoulder blades and can occasionally be seen wearing glasses. Yami's younger brother is quite astute and attends university, because of this he is rarely home. He has messy black hair like Yami but keeps in shorter and wears it in a high ponytail as well as sometimes, a braid. When he is around he tends to keep to himself and not say very much (he is quite shy, but when pushed, will speak his mind) it would also seem he is quite intelligent and has a rather nice future ahead of him. (He also, gets along rather well with the Princess as they are the same age and have similar fashion sense. It is to her that he admits one of his greatest secrets, that one of his close (and only) male friends in much more than a simple friend to him.) Yami's mother is very caring and takes care of her sons well including disciplining them when need be. When the Princess drops by, Yami's mother takes care of her just like she would if she were her own daughter. Yami's father spends most of his time away at work and so is rarely home. Because their house is small they tend to send Yami all sort of "presents" to keep at the castle since they believe he will have plenty of space in which to keep them, hence why Yami's room is always such a mess.
- Castle Life: Yami, unlike Yaori and Yuuki, does not have a particular job at the castle and so he normally just hangs around, occasionally attending to an errand if need be. His room at the castle is not too far away from the Princess', as are all the other rooms for her guardians (they are all along the same hall, Yami's is the closest.) Though his room is also the same size as the others no one would believe so upon entering it; it is dark, gloomy and full of random junk "lovingly" sent to him by his family. Because the stuff takes up so much space he had a much smaller bed brought in so that he would have at least some room to move about. He keeps it against the side of the wall with a few small dressers at the head and foot of the bed, one lamp, and a closet. The curtains stay mostly closed and it is near impossible to reach his balcony, how he even makes it to his bathroom is in itself astounding as the "junk" is piled between it and the bed and no one even knows if the overhead lights even work anymore. (That's not to say that Yami himself is unkempt in his lifestyle...rather, he has trouble saying "no" to his family and all their junk.) If he can't be found inside the castle there is a good bet he is somewhere outside, though he may be seen in the main garden or even in the Queen's Special Garden which he long ago gained access to, a good bet would be that he is at his secret spot: a rolling field full of eternal wildflowers that seemingly stretches on forever with just a slight hint of pine trees near its border. From there the entire castle can be seen and he often goes there to lay in the grass and flowers and catch a calming nap. Eventually he shares this secret wonderland with the Princess and it becomes their special place.
- Bio: Yami has an easy going personality and tends not to worry about much unless it involves the Princess, if he is ever seen upset it probably has something to do with some sort of trouble involving her. He also, out of all of the guardians, is probably the closest to the Princess and because of this he is very good at guessing what is bothering her, if she is being truly honest, and generally helping her out. Because of this she relies on him often when something is bothering her as she knows he will understand and be able to comfort her. He also, in the past, made an oath that he would never lie to the Princess and has yet never broken this promise, in fact it seems incredibly difficult for him to ever tell her anything false, if not completely impossible. This has it's drawbacks however if she asks him something and he is unable to respond. Yami, like most of the Princess' guardians, has quite a fondness for her, but at a certain point even he begins to notice that this fondness is something more, that he is indeed deeply in love with the Princess. But due to the vow he took when he became her guardian he tries his best to keep it a secret, even from the other guardians, and, especially, the King. He has a lot of trouble doing this however and eventually confesses his feelings. Because of his vows however, he can never truly be as close to her as he would like nor can he let anyone else know of their relationship, though it doesn't take the other guardians long to figure it out. Yami admits openly that because of his love for her he would gladly give up his own life to save her, though after hearing this she becomes angry and tells him to never do anything so stupid. Yami's one wish is for the Princess to be truly happy and he will do anything possible to make that so, even if he is hurt in the end. However, he has one selfish wish - that he could be with the Princess without fearing that the King will punish him, that he could be with her always without having to hide their relationship or his feelings for her. In the past, Yami witnessed the Princess' death firsthand, and though badly injured blames himself for her demise. It is told that, Yami, afterwards, would not leave his room and refused to eat for sometime. This more than anything is what pushes him so hard to protect her after she is reborn. He makes a vow to himself that he will never let any harm come to her ever again no matter what the cost. Because of this Yami is constantly looking out for her and is normally the first to arrive if there is any sort of trouble. Though Yami might not seem the jealous type early on, he begins to dislike the Princess hanging around Yaori so often especially when he realizes she was going to him for help instead of to himself, but in time Yaori realizes this and promises Yami that he would never touch her and that the only reason she normally comes to him is to ask his advice on matters that involve her love for Yami, ones she was much too embarrassed to discuss with him herself. To this Yami embarrassingly agrees that it's alright for Yaori to counsel her if need be. Yami, like Yaori and Yuuri, is also quite good at keeping Yaari's flirtations with the Princess in check.
